1. Loire-valley based Aëla Labbé was the photographer responsible for Misfit Mod’s Islands & Islands cover. Labbé’s pictures combine elements of Lewis Carroll’s darkly sexual Victorian photography, Sally Mann’s haunted forests, and the sunny glamour of washed out 1970’s Californian vacation photos. In addition to selling prints, she also packages her photography in small boxes or packages that are an art unto themselves. It’s so hard for us to pick our favorites, but here are a few. You can find more of Labbé’s work on her Flickr page, on Facebook, and on Etsy.
